Better than Beetaloo (2024) - How the NT can deliver energy security this decade without fracking
The NT Govt announced in April 2024, that it had struck a 9-year offtake agreement with Tamboran Resources, the deal is a terrible outcome for NT taxpayers that will cost billions over the next decade, effectively abandons the NT’s 50% renewable energy target by 2030.
Green Metals submission (2024) - Australia has a significant comparative advantage for a green metals production future based on our abundant mineral resources, industrial capacity, and enormous renewable energy potential.
Establishing a green iron sector in Australia will be key to helping reduce emissions from our major trading partners, in particular Japan and South Korea, which are geographically limited in how much renewable energy they can deploy.
FMIA - Production Tax Credit Submission (2025) - The recent passing of the Future Made in Australia (FMiA) Act is a major step towards building Australian future-ready, zero-carbon industries that will also help slash global emissions. Production tax credits/incentives (PTCs/PTIs ) can address market failures in costing the effects of carbon emissions - they can assist in bridging the gap between fossil fuel-produced commodities and the green premium of green metals. We believe they are an effective mechanism to de-risk the development of competitive clean industrial projects in Australia
Victoria’s Renewable Gas Directions Paper (2025) - We are supportive of an Industrial Renewable Gas Guarantee to assist in the production of renewable gases for industries without electrification options.
We strongly recommend that the Victorian Government establish a high industrial gas reduction target for 2035 - in the range of 26 PJ to 50 PJ - in order to send a clear signal to industries and unlock capital investment into electrified and regassed technology solutions. The critical opportunity is the large-scale deployment of commercially available electric solutions for low-temperature heat applications.
Victoria’s Building Electrification Regulatory Impact State (2025) - We are supportive of this policy program that will quickly electrify homes and commercial buildings in Victoria, and ensure the decline of fossil gas and reduction in emissions.
Driving an ambitious program of electrification in Victoria is essential to reducing gas usage and demonstrating to the nation that this is possible.
Building electrification is the low hanging fruit for electrification, there is no technology barrier for household level electrification, and virtually no barrier for commercial building electrification using commercially available technology that already has mass deployment.
